PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD’S GRADE ON YOUR INVOICE OR ON THE SAYERS WEB PAGE UNDER 2025 TIMETABLE TO ENSURE THAT YOU PURCHASE THE CORRECT PERFORMANCE FOR YOUR CHILD.

Parents of students doing your first concert with us:

We would like to put your mind at ease. Once you drop your child to us, they will be carefully supervised by Sayers staff and parents of our senior students. All children will be well cared for and if your child is in any way unsettled and we feel you should be contacted; we will do so over the PA system. If you do not hear from us, it means your child/children are having the time of their lives.

Costumes:

For you, there is NO costume making as we supply all costumes. Please note that many dance schools require you to purchase the materials and sew all your costumes or purchase all your costumes outright. We include costume hire as part of your concert levy. The levy goes toward new costumes, replacement of damaged costumes, repairs, and cleaning of costumes.

You will also receive a Sayers Concert T-shirt as part of the concert levy price.

Concert Rehearsals:

All students will have a MANDATORY rehearsal at the Theatre. Refer to the Concert and Rehearsal Timetable to see which rehearsal times your child needs to attend.

While we understand that this is a busy time of year, it really is to the benefit of your child and all their classmates that everyone attends. If you do not show for your rehearsal, it will let your child’s whole class down.

PUNCTUALITY IS ESSENTIAL as we will try hard to run on time. If you are late, it will affect everyone. Please allow extra travelling time for heavy school traffic.

Please ensure you do a bathroom run with your child before dropping them off. (Parents are not permitted to watch rehearsal)

This is not a dress rehearsal. Please wear your normal class uniform.

SNACKS & DRINKS:

There is to be no food or drinks (except water) to be taken into the theatre.

If your child’s rehearsal is less than an hour, please do not send any bags or drinks.

If your child is staying longer than an hour, bring a water drink bottle.

If your child is staying longer than 2hrs, bring some snacks (NO NUTS) and we will all go out together for a snack break.

Everyone Will Receive a Link to Watch and Download the Concerts:

A professional company will film all shows. You will receive a link to the concert which you can share with family and friends who live interstate or overseas. The cost of this is included in your concert levy.

You will be able to use the downloaded link to gain your own copy and save it to a hard drive or USB. You cannot re-edit, change or on-sell this product. The video licence is for a single private household use so there is no public online publishing or public sharing allowed.

Personal video recorders or filming on your phone are not allowed due to copyright, privacy, and licensing laws.

Photographs:

We will be having professional photographers take individual and group photos of each class in costume during normal classes in the week of Monday 3rd November to Saturday 8th Nov. These will be available to order and pay through Elite Photographics. There is no obligation to purchase these. By committing to the concert, you will be giving us permission to give your contact details to Elite. Please refer to the photograhers information and the photo week timetable below for more information.

Juniors: Younger students (ballet - kindy Dance to ballet Gr.5; Jazz – Prep Jazz to Jazz Mids; Tap – Tap & Bop to Tap C, and Dance Foundation Mids) will be brought onto the stage for collection after the show has finished. Parents should remain in their seats and listen for the grade announcements, and one parent only should go and collect their child.

Seniors: may leave from the stage and meet their parents where arranged.

Backstage Helpers:

As you can imagine, we need a lot of help backstage with so many children. Without parents’ help we could not put on such a wonderful show and experience for all our families. Those who have a child in multiple shows doing the same item are required to help or pay a $70 backstage levy so we can employ others to help. More information will be available soon. For the safety and security of all students, only parents who are rostered on are allowed backstage.

Charity Concert:

Over the years Sayers had supported Endeavour Foundation and YoungCare. In 2025 we will be supporting Queensland Brain Institute. Many families are affected by Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's and other Neurological Diseases. We hope our donation goes far to support QBI and the amazing research they are doing to find answers to these life changing diseases.  Premier Dance will donate to Mater Little Miracles.

In 2025, the Day of Dance - Charity Gala raised $40,000 which was then divided between these two wonderful organisations.

This is one of the highlights of our year at Sayers Dance Centre for both students and staff, all of whom volunteer their time on the day to present this fantastic event.

Participation in these shows is a two term (one semester) commitment.  The students learn their dances in Terms 1 & 2, polishing them during Term 2 so they are ready to perform at St Peter’s Lutheran College, Indooroopilly.
