AUGUST '08

In June Dance Performance groups performed two shows to a full theatre in a combined concert with students from the Premier Dance Academy.
These were free performances and entry was by donation with all proceeds going to the Mater Children's Hospital and the Endeavour Foundation. We raised a total of $3757. Congratulations kids!

Past Student Christopher Rickert has had an exciting past few months, he is a dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and has had the opportunity to work together with his childhood idol - Mikhail Baryshnikov. Chris will be back in Australia for 3 months as a Guest Artist with the Australian Ballet Company in October.

Past Student Liz Hewett after a stringent application and interview process was appointed to her dream job at the Australian Ballet School as their new Exercise Physiologist.

APRIL ' 08

2008 Has started with record numbers, welcome to all new students.

The students who were mentioned in December are all doing well, plus Jane Birks has been awarded a contract with Disney in Tokyo where she will join fellow past student Kathleen Crome, and William MacDonald and Beliz Ozturk were both accepted into Ballet Theatre of Queensland.

We are now working hard toward mid year exams and tests.

DECEMBER '07

Another year has come to an exciting end. Our end of year performance was a resounding success, with many wonderful comments and e-mails from happy parents, who were very impressed with the high technical standard and our beautiful costumes which are supplied for a small annual levy, Mum's are very happy about not having to worry about sewing & are thrilled to see their child appear on stage in a beautiful costume without the hassles.
We were also proud that all rehearsals and performances ran on time, and loved hearing from parents about how comfortable and safe they felt leaving their children in our care.

Congratulations to the following students:

CHLOE EINICKE was accepted by Prudence Bowen to study full time ballet
ASHLEIGH THOMAS & SAHYA SAHEKI were both accepted into the Queensland Dance School of Excellence. (QDSE)
REBECCA RYAN will commence 2nd year at the QDSE.
LUCY RUSH will commence a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at Q.U.T.
GRACE CLARK was accepted into the Queensland Ballet Junior Extension Program as well as dance with Ballet Theatre of Queensland.
CHELSEA RYAN will dance with the Ballet Theatre of Queensland
MICHAEL WELLINGTON was accepted into the Queensland Ballet Junior Extension Program.

Past Students:

CHRISTOPHER RICKERT who is a Principal Dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet Company will be a guest dancer with the Australian Ballet Company for 3 months in October to December 2008.

JANE BIRKS will be appearing in a new movie to be released mid 2008 starring Tom Hanks

LAUREN SOSNOWSKI (A.R.A.D - Solo Seal) (B.F.A.) (Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance.) and Graduate of the Queensland Ballet's Professional Year, is opening her own school (Prestige Dance Centre) at Springfield Lakes. Lauren has been a wonderful student and then a fantastic Teacher at this Centre and we wish her every success.

CONNOR DOWLING a current member of Sydney Dance Company, was recently a featured performer in the Brisbane season of 'Berlin' the final farewell production for choreographer and company director - Graeme Murphy.

July/August '07

The Media has been very active recently, The Brisbane News featured our Adult Ballet Classes in 2 page article on the recent popularity of Adult Ballet, The Courier Mail photographed our students in a feature on 'A Day in Queensland', Chanel Nine will be using some students next month for a feature on Ballet, The Local Bulletin did a lovely story in the August issue on our Dance Performance Groups. All of the above media contacted us and asked for the use of our studio and students.
In 2nd and 3rd Term the senior classes have been lucky to have Guest Teachers: Rachael Walsh - Queensland Ballet, Nicole Galea - ex-Queensland Ballet, Christopher Rickert - Royal Danish Ballet, Callum Hastie - Ballet Mainz - Germany. This is so inspiring for the students and we are grateful to the Artists who willingly share their knowledge with young students
Dance Performance students danced beautifully in the Kenmore Village Centre Court and then for the Blue Nurses day out at the Mt.Gravatt Showgrounds. Watching them were Christopher Rickert (Royal Danish Ballet - Denmark) and Callum Hastie (Mainz Ballet - Germany) who both danced in our Dance Performance groups as young students. The Finale of the show is tradionally always the same, and brings back memories to all past students.
Lana Seaman audition and was accepted into the professional production of Carousel which will be at the 12th Night Theatre. The Principals of the cast are from London. Congratulations Lana.

June '07

Senior Students were privileged to have guest teachers Rachael Walsh & Nicole Galea, both from the Queensland Ballet, and past student Christopher Rickert of the Royal Danish Ballet take their classes, they are now looking forward to July when past student Callum Hastie of the Mainz Ballet - Germany will take their classes.

May '07

Chloe Einicke gained her Advanced 1 Certificate with a Distiction, as did Ashleigh Thomas and Rebecca Ryan with Merits. Well done girls!.

February '07

Chloe Einicke (from Advanced 1 class) & Grace Clarke (from Intermediate class) were both again accepted into the Australian Ballet School Interstate extension program
Connor Ferguson, Beliz Ozturk and Rebecca Thornton were accepted as extra's for the Australian Ballet Companies production of Don Quixote in February 2007.
Chelsea Ryan and Grace Clarke were accepted into the Ballet Theatre of Queensland.

December '06

Congratulations to
All students who entered the Graded and Vocational Graded examinations . We had a 100% success rate from Primary through to Advanced Two with a very high percentage of distinctions. Well done kids!
Jane Birks: (from the Advanced 2 class and currently a student teacher.) Was accepted into: Q.U.T Fine Arts- Dance, Brent St. Theatre School- Sydney. W.A.A.P.A (Dance) - W.A. and The National Theatre Ballet School - Vic. (She has decided to accept The National in Melbourne.) Jane recently gained her Advanced 2 certificate.
Aaron Carter: (from the Advanced 1 class) Has been accepted into the National Theatre Ballet School - Victoria.
Meghan O'Shea - (from the Advanced 2 class and currently a student teacher.) Was accepted into: Q.U.T. - Fine Arts (Dance) and also into the West Australia Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Musical Theatre & Drama Course. She has accepted the WAAPA offer. Only 9 females per year Australia wide are accepted into this course.
Rebecca Ryan - Accepted into the Queensland Dance School of Excellence - Grade 11. (Q.D.S.E.)
Sahya Saheki - Accepted into the Queensland Dance School of Excellence - Grade 10. (Q.D.S.E.)
Lana Seaman - Dux of Kenmore State High School - 2006 . She gained an OP 1. Lana is in our Advanced 2 class and also does Student Teaching proving that it is possible to dance to Advanced Levels, do Student Teaching and also be a high achiever at school.

Welcome to new teachers for 2007
Marise McGuirk A.R.A.D R.A.D. Reg. Teacher Associate Diploma Performing Arts. (dance) Q.U.T. Teacher & Member R.A.D.Panel - Adelaide 1982-96 Miss McGuirk has been the specialist classical teacher at the Conroy Dance Centre for the past 10 years. She is married with 2 teenage children.
Simone Atthow-Williams A.R.A.D Dip. Q.D.S.E. Batchelor ofArts. (dance) Q.U.T. who will take the Tuesday and Thursday morning classes in 2007. Simone trained at Sayers and was a dancer with Expressions Dance Company for 11 years. She is married with 2 daughters. Simone also taught at our school before having her family, and is a regular guest teacher at Q.D.S.E. Miss Lauren will now be free to perform with the Queensland Ballet plus other performing commitments, but she will continue to take Private Lessons and will fill in when needed. Miss Caroline and Miss Nadine will continue teaching the classes they teach now.

June 2006

Two terms have passed so quickly, and as always much has happened at Sayers.
Teacher Miss Lauren Sosnowski will be touring with the Queensland Ballet Schools program late in July.......All Dance Performance Groups will perform in the Centre Court of Kenmore Village Shopping Centre 3rd July to 8th July at 11am and 1pm daily ( on Sat. 8th only at 11am. )......... Some groups will be performing at the Mater Childrens hospital at the end of May....... and we have several bookings at Retirement homes etc.
KathCrome successfully auditioned to dance at Disney - Tokyo......Hannah Platt & Aaron Carter again successfully auditioned for Ballet Theatre of Queensland.......Viv & Vail Bromberger, Chelsea Ryan and Grace Clarke successfully auditioneed fo the Little Ballerina's.......Chloe Einicke, Hannah Platt, and Grace Clarke are currently in the Australian Ballet's Junior Externtion program, and Chloe is also in the Queensland Ballet Junior Program......Michael Wellington, Connor Ferguson and William MacDonald, successfully auditioned for the Australian Ballet's Sleeping Beauty production which will be in July......Ebony Jackson, Aaron Carter, Hannah Platt, Alexa Murray and Winky Poon all were better than successful in their R.A.D Intermediate and Advanced 1 examinations.
Chanel 9's 'The Shak' episode starring the Sayers kids went to air on the 17th May, we were very proud of our lovely dancers.
Our youngest Dance Performance Group together with teacher Lauren Sosnowski danced at Parliament house for many dignitaries at a function for the Ambassadors and Consuls to celebrate Europe Day. Wonderful remarks and comments were given regarding their talent, technique and conduct. Again we were very proud.

Term 4 2005

Channel 9 has chosen our school to film a segment on ballet for their new show 'The Shak' which will be starting in 2006. Grade 2 'a' students were lucky enough to be at the time when it suited Channel 9 to come to the Studio.
11 Students were chosen to form a guard of honour at Parliament house for the EU Ambassador and other dignitaries. Also a couple of students were selected to do a reading of a Christmas poem. This was held in the 'Red Chamber' which not many people get to visit and it was an honour to be included in this event.
Vocational Graded Examination for 2005 successful students are: ( we had a 100% success rate)
INTERMEDIATE FOUNDATION: Meg Simes, Kate Smith, Tara Border, Hannah Ellis
INTERMEDIATE: Kelly Sunderland, Calley Newman, Lauren Crome, Emily Strickland, Rebecca Fletcher, Chloe Einicke, Ashleigh Thomas, Lauren Westmore, Rebecca Ryan, Lucy Rush, Krysten Crome.
ADVANCED 1: Laura Craig, Phoebe Pullen, Meghan O'Shea, Anna Hall.

Terms 2 & 3 2005

Both Callum Hastie (Mainz Ballet - Germany) and Christopher Rickert (Royal Danish Ballet) were home during June / July and we were delighted to have them take classes for the Majors, and special boys classes. It is always delightful and heart warming to have past students retain their contact with the Academy.
4 Students have been accepted into the Australian Ballet's Junior Extension Program.
Exam results for the first session of the Vocational Grades and the Grades and were just wonderful with all candidates receiving Merits and the majority Distinctions. Well done Kids we're proud of you.
The Dance Performance Students have been enjoying their performances, we did 11 shows at the Kenmore Village, plus we performed at Iona Retirement Centre, and Indooroopilly State School, now we're busy getting ready for the end of year performances.
Connor Dowling was Performing brilliantly at Q.P.A.C. in Brisbane with the Sydney Dance Company in their production of 'Grand' in August , he surprised us all with his beautiful singing voice

Term 1 2005

Callum Hastie has left the West Australian Ballet and has joined Mainz Ballet Company in Germany. Connor Dowling has left the West Australian Ballet and is now in Sydney Dance Company. Alana Klein successfully auditioned for La Boheme (Italian) with Opera Queensland. This will be her fourth Opera season with them, the others being 'The Damnation of Faust' (French)., 'Cavalleria Rusticana' & Pagliacci' (Italian) La Boheme shows will be from May 14th to May 28th '05 Hannah Platt, Dominique Prince, & Ashleigh Thomas successfully auditioned for Ballet Theatre of Queensland.

November - December 2004

CONGRATULATIONS TO: Jane Birks and Aleisha Graham who were accepted into the Queensland Dance School of Excellence ( Q.D.S.E.) . Caroline Hellmuth has graduated from the Q.D.S.E. & was accepted into the National Ballet School - Victoria. Chloe Einicke, Hannah Platt & Rhys Ryan who were all accepted into the Australian Ballet School Junior extention program.
We will be presenting the fairytale ballet of Hansel & Gretel at the Stuartholme School Theatre December 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th of December. For tickets call 3255 0500

October 2004

Connor Dowling currently at West Australian Ballet has been awarded the $15,000.00 Lady Mollie Askin Travelling Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to only one Australian Dancer Biennially. Connor has nominated companies in Europe, the UK, and America where he would like to develop his skills and gain international exposure. This award is awarded to dancers aged between 17 and 30 who are judged as having the outstanding ability and promise in ballet. We recognised this when he was only a little boy and are proud to have been a major part of his training.
Antony Crome has left Tivoli Ballet in Denmark & will commence with Gothenberg Ballet in Sweden, he will start there in January.

February / March 2004

Christopher Rickert was invited to audition for the Royal Danish Ballet, he was hoping to get a contract in September, and finish his final year at the New Zealand School of Dance. He was amazed when they offered him a contract effective immediately, he had also been offered a contract with the West Australian Ballet, so after a lot of agonizing he decided to accept the Royal Danish Ballet, this is one of the world's top ballet companies. He has now had his first performance with them and the added thrill with Queen of Denmark in the audience, and is just loving it, he is so happy as all have made him so welcome. Well done Christopher!.
Elise Azar has won a scholarship to attend a month of classes with the Akjun Ballet Theatre in New York, climaxing with a public performance. Good luck Elise!.
Caroline Hellmuth currently in her final year at Q.D.S.E. was selected by the school to attend a week at the "Brent Street" school in Sydney all expenses paid. Well done Caroline!
Alexander Koszarycz has started his first year at the New Zealand School of Dance. He is working hard, and hopes to follow in Christopher's footsteps.
Lauren Sosnowski is now in the Professional year of the Queensland Ballet. Well done Lauren! She enjoyed performing in the production of Peer Gynt and we all look forward to seeing her in other productions of the Queensland Ballet.

November / December 2003

Congratulations to Kath Davis A.R.A.D. B.F.A. (dance) on gaining her degree in dance.
Also big congragulations to Lauren Sosnowski A.R.A.D. who flew to Sydney in November to perform for the R.A.D. Solo Seal awards, Lauren was the only candidate to be awarded her Solo Seal in that session.
Two of our Dance Performance groups were invited to perform at the EU-Ambassadors Forum Function "Italy Unmasked" in the Medusa Ballroom at the Palazzo Versace. and then the following week at the Consular Corps Annual Dinner at Parliament House. They performed a Tarantella, Grande Waltz and a Pas de Deux, plus Megan O'Shea from the Majors group sang "Colours of the Wind". They performed like professionals, well done kids!

October, 2003

During the September school holidays Vivianne went to see the West Australian Ballet performance in Perth. . It was thrilling to see Callum Hastie and Connor Dowling, both past students of this school dancing the principal roles. This is a very exciting Ballet Company with some exceptionally talented dancers.
We are now working toward our end of year display, and re-enrolments for 2004. Some classes are already booked out, so if you have not yet enrolled, please contact us A.S.A.P.

Congratulations to all R.A.D. Graded Examination candidates & Test candidates who had a 100% success rate with 95% gained Distinctions for their R.A.D. exams.
Also congratulations to the following R.A.D. Vocationally Graded candidates in both the May & August sessions this year, who also had a 100% success rate.

May - June 2003

WE HAVE EXPANDED!
We believe in putting back into our school, with this in mind we decided to expand the size of our second studio. This was ready mid 2nd term, we now have 2 large studios, both with 2 way mirrors so you may view the classes, plus a small practice room (for private lessons etc.) plus we have a a bigger and better office, change area and dance shop for your convenience. Both studio's have proper dance flooring at a cost of $18,000. per studio for your child's protection, air conditioning, barre's & mirrors. This provides the correct atmosphere so necessary to foster the passion & love for dance which enables the students to give 100% effort to achieve their own personal best.
Chris Rickert was in New York to compete in World Dance competition in June making it to the Semi-Finals. . Whilst he was there he received expressions of interest from: The New Jersey Ballet. , Joffrey Ballet., Miami Ballet., American Ballet Theatre Studio Company., and the Royal Danish Ballet Company. In August he will again be competing at the International level at the 9th Asian Pacific Ballet Competitions in Toyko, and 5 - 15th November will be dancing George Balanchine's Tchaikowsky Pas de Deux as part of the New Zealand School of Dance graduation season. Chris will stay on at the school and complete the 3rd year building his strength amd confidence before joining the professional ranks.

Febuary - April 2003

Peter Crome has a contract to dance with the Queensland Ballet production of The Little Mermaid in March, and Don Quixote in May, after which he will return to the U.K and join The Royal Birmingham Ballet for their production of Sleeping Beauty.
Natalie Lindwall A.R.A.D. received her letters after application to London, she has been at our school since the age of 3 and has now joined our teaching faculty, and will also be assisting us in the administration side of the school. She is also in her final year at Qld. University - Business Management.
Kath Davis A.R.A.D. received her letters after application to London. Kath has been a wonderful student gaining her Advanced II (Distinction) in 2002 and has spent many years with us as a student teacher, and now is proving herself to be a wonderful teacher. She is in her final year at Q.U.T. and will get her degree in dance (performance) at the end of this year.
