“My time at the Sayers Dance Centre was my first real step into the world of ballet. To be a ballerina was my only goal. I was lucky enough to be accepted at the age of 4 and continued with Sayers until the age of 16. I was then accepted into the National Theatre Ballet School in Melbourne, I really enjoyed dancing in all the shopping centre performances and of course always looked forward eagerly to the big production at the end of the year. I learnt an incredible amount from both Mrs Sayers and Miss Nadine and I probably wouldn't have made it so far if it wasn't for them. I am indebted to them for all their help and guidance in preparing me for a ballet career. I was lucky enough to be offered a position straight away with the Leipziger Ballet, Germany. I had a wonderful time in Leipzig and danced in a wide variety of ballets and in many different roles. I even had some wonderful roles created specifically for me by our director and choreographer, the late Uwe Scholz. After which I joined the Hanover Ballet Company. Sayers Dance Centre will always be a part of my life. Whenever we come to Brisbane the trip would not be complete without a visit to the Sayers and a ‘catch up’ over coffee and cake.”
“I’m really proud to have been a student at the Sayers, not only for the exceptional training, but the support that one needs when growing up. Vivianne and Nadine take such an interest in their students and they helped me get where I am today for which I am very grateful. They made me realize that to obtain my dream that one has to put in the work and always respect those around me.”
